Where it started

Where it started

Shot by VDP is my own sports photography business, so this was the first site I built for myself before I built them for anyone else.

There was no website before this one. Work was shared through social media and word of mouth, and there was no single place to see the portfolio, compare packages, or book.

The site needed to do three things: show the photos at their best, explain what a session includes, and give people a clear path to book.

The build

What I built

  • A new site from the ground up, with no template.
  • A portfolio that puts the photos first and loads quickly, even with a lot of images on the page.
  • A services page that lays out the packages and what each one includes.
  • A booking path that is visible from every page.
  • Reviews, about, and contact pages so people can get to know the photographer before they reach out.
  • Image sizes tuned so the galleries load quickly on a phone.

Monthly plan

What I keep running

A site is never really finished. This is what I look after for Shot by VDP month to month.

  • Hosting and the domain.
  • Adding new galleries and swapping featured photos as seasons change.
  • Updating packages and session details when they change.
  • Keeping the booking path working and the underlying software current.

The best way to judge the work is to open it.

Questions about Shot by VDP

Did you build Shot by VDP yourself?

Yes. Shot by VDP is my own photography business, and I designed, built, wrote, and maintain the site. It was a real project with real constraints, not a practice piece.

Why does a photography site need SEO?

Because most people searching for a sports photographer in their area have never heard of one. Clear page titles, descriptive alt text, and a fast site give search engines and AI tools something to work with when someone asks who shoots sports near them.

Can you build something similar for my business?

Yes. The same approach works for any local service business: show the work, explain what you offer, and make the next step obvious. Get in touch and tell me what you need.

Want a site built the same way?

Tell me about your business and your current site. I will tell you honestly whether a facelift or a new build makes more sense, and what happens next.
